PUBLIC DOMAIN PREMIERE AT THE PHILHARMONIE

500 guests, filmmakers, contributors and the "Public Domain" choir project team celebrated the premiere of PUBLIC DOMAIN - THE FILM in the Berlin Philharmonic on October 1st, 2018..

There is a lot of laughter, many are touched. The film by Julia Gechter, which will be on TV on October 28th at 10pm in the RBB, inspires the guests in the Great Hall. With many of the singers of the extraordinary choir project present, initiated by the Education Department of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

In May 2018, the piece "Public Domain" by the American composer David Lang was performed in the Philharmonie, commissioned by the Berliner Philharmoniker for 1000 singers. The giant choir consists of laymen, who have never sung before, and semi-professional choirs from various worlds, clubs and institutions in Berlin.

The film accompanies the process from the choir rehearsals in various parts of the city to the performance in the Philharmonie. He introduces the initiators of the project with their visions and motivations and portrays six singers in their Berlin world, who are exemplary for many with their hopes and desires.
